What a peaceful day! As the sun sets and the moon begins to shine its light over the village, a young witch finishes her busy day of potion making by hanging her hat and going to bed. Her cat, Mona, doesn't want to go to bed though. She's more interested in the treats the Witch left out! But things don't go as planned when the Witch's hat falls on Mona's head and everything comes to life. Now she has to turn everything back to normal!
Mona and the Witch's Hat is a homebrew game made for the original Game Boy. You play as Mona, a mischievous cat that gains magical powers when her owner's witch hat falls on her head. It features four levels, and can be completed in about 20 minutes.
Made using GBDK and Zal0's ZGB, a small game engine for making Game Boy homebrew games.

hey I noticed catskull went defunct and sold out to someone else who now has yours and all the other games they carried listed as “discontinued”, any plans to re release physical?
Hi there, thanks for reaching out!
Yes, I do plan on re-releasing a physical copy as soon as I can find another distributor. Supply chain issues and chip shortages notwithstanding, I'll update the Mona and the Witch's Hat Deluxe page with new links whenever that happens.
Thanks again!
cool! Wasn’t expecting such a swift response! I love supporting physical releases for gameboy games so I’ll be sure to hop on once you work things out, I hope the best and may the force be with you :)
How do I get past the pots (sorry if I'm not supposed to ask)
Hi there! Thank you for playing Mona and the Witch's Hat. You won't be able to get past the first pot you come across, you'll need to take a higher route above. The easiest way to get past the pots from that point onwards is to time your jump so that the fork/knife is almost landing back in the pot by the time you jump over it.
Here's a video walkthrough in case my explanation doesn't work (Jump to the 44 second mark):
Thanks again! Thanks! I thought so but thank you for the clarification!
I've recently finished the game and I've really liked it! It's super-cute!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. :)
